RMS Queen Elizabeth was Built in John Brown and Company, Clydebank, Scotland. She was laid down on 5th July 1965 and then Launched 20th September 1967. She serve Cunard Line from May 2nd 1969 to 27th November 2008 and Cunard said it was there best ship of all time in a Interview in 2008. She is currently laid up in Port Rashid (Dubai) since retired in 2008. On 28 January 2011 during a heavy dust storm, QE2 broke loose from her moorings and drifted out into the channel at Port Rashid. She was attended by pilots and tugs and safely returned to berth at Port Rashid. Images of QE2's unexpected movements appeared on-line after being taken by a QE2 enthusiast, from the window of the 124th floor of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. QE2 is currently berthed at Port Mina Rashid in Dubai. She is maintained in a seaworthy condition and generates her own power. Each of her nine diesel generators are turned over and used to power the ship. A live-in crew of approximately 50 people maintain QE2 to a high standard. Activities include painting, maintenance, cabin checks and overhauls of machinery. Istithmar are considering future plans for QE2 which may involve the ship sailing to an alternative location under her own power. Again Her Future is uncertain .
